God will never leave you

I was scrolling through my playlist today and I stumbled upon this song “Not for a moment (After all)” by Meredith Andrews and I was reminded that God will never leave me nor forsake me and I thought I should remind you too. God will never leave you nor forsake you!

God’s promise

The Bible is full of promises made by God to His people. The following verses are some instances of God’s promise to never to forsake His children.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Matthew 28:20

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Psalm 94:14
For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
The power of the holy spirit

After the last supper Jesus tells His disciples; Let not your heart be troubled you who believe in God. Believe also in me. John 14

In chapter 15, He promises to send them a helper. I can only imagine the scenes at Pentecost. The apostles are together when suddenly, a mighty rushing wind appears, followed by tongues of fire.

I can only imagine the power in that room. Filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples begin speaking in other tongues. Here is an article on the Doctrine of the Holy SpiritJesus’s promise of a Helper and Comforter is thus fulfilled.

The Holy Spirit regenerates us (John 3:3-5), Indwells us (1 Cor.6:19), Seals us with assurance of Salvation (Eph.1:13,14), infills us (Acts 2:4), empowers us for life and service (Rom. 8:2), and is our guide.

God sent us the Holy Spirit to come dwell in our hearts and thus be we us always.

“Not For a Moment (After All)” is a song by Christian ContemporaryModern Worship musician Meredith Andrews from her fourth studio album, Worth It All.

It was released on July 31, 2012, as the first single from the album. The song worships God for His faithfulness towards us.

Verse 1

Remember that time when Jesus walked on water? He had just fed 5000 people and had sent his disciples ahead oh Him to Galilee when they encountered a storm.

Then they see Jesus walking on water and their fear turns to terror. Jesus invites Peter to walk to Him. It is written, that:

Peter jumped out of the boat and began walking on the water toward Jesus, but the moment He took his eyes off of Jesus, Peter saw nothing but the waves and started to sink

At that moment Jesus must have seemed to be a thousand miles away but He reached through the storm, walking on the water and helped peter unto the boat.

He did not forsake His disciples even for a moment. He won’t forsake us either.

Verse 2

Meredith speaks in verse two of how our day-to-day challenges might drown out God’s voice and promise to us.

It speaks of how God holds us in the palm of His hands and gives us strength to overcome the challenges we face in life.

This verse, like verse 1 ends with the acknowledgement that God has not left us, not for a moment.

The bridge acknowledges God for being there with and for us every step of the way. For hearing our prayers and for being with us when everything seems to be falling apart.

We should sing this song with gratitude in our hearts, for in our hurt, and at our worst, though we are totally undeserving of God’s faithfulness, He remains faithful to His promise to never leave nor forsake us.
