Revival

Many people think of a “revival” as an enigmatic, intensely passionate religious gathering.
The word “revival” frequently conjures up images of a vintage tent gathering with a charismatic evangelist with a hoarse voice shouting “filler-words” like “Hallelujah!” “I bind, I cast. I bind. I cast!” “Holy Ghoooooost Fire!” And sure, the phrase “sow a seed” can be expected.

In Psalm 85:6-7 the psalmist asks “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.”

What is revival?

As used in the Bible, it means a restoration, rejuvenation, or renewal of interest after spiritual neglect, oblivion, or obscurity.

A revival is

The personal renewal to spiritual life in an individual, or among a group of people. It is an “at-one-ment,” a heartfelt return to God and His commandments.
